Live Performance Tips

When it comes to live performances whether it be a speech, presentation, or a sporting event it can be a little bit stressful. Anything can happen during a live performance, and no matter what you do to prepare you must expect the unexpected. I am a piano teacher here at Music Scene, and I have done many live performances, and so I hope these tips can be helpful.

Tip 1 - Be Early

This one may be a no brainer, but for some people (especially musicians) it can be over-looked. When you show up early you can get set up, and not have to rush that part. If you have to rush setting yourself up, then that may carry over to your performance, and a fast paced/rushed performance can be a disaster.

Tip 2 - Make A Checklist

Have you ever had so many things to do that when it's time to do them you just spin your tires and get nothing done, because you're just thinking about what all you have to do? This happens to everyone. A checklist can eliminate this from happening, because you can just go in order step by step getting closer to the end goal.

Tip 3 - DON'T OVERTHINK

overthinking can lead to extra stress, and who needs that? When it comes to a big performance all you can do is prepare the best you can, and when it is time to shine just focus on the task at hand.

Tip 4 - Have Fun

There is probably a reason why you are doing this performance. Thinking of it as more of a thing you want to do rather than something you have to do can be a good feeling.
