Cathy Wiedeman
Voice, Piano, Woodwinds, Adult Choir
Cathy Wiedeman was born and raised in Lawton, OK and received her bachelor of arts degree in vocal music performance, with a minor in instrumental music-woodwinds, and an endorsement in piano from Cameron University, Lawton OK in 1994. She is married and has 3 grown children, two living here in Wichita and one living in Lawton, OK.
Ms. Cathy took piano lessons from age 5 and continued until college, took an exam and passed the piano proficiency with flying colors. She has accompanied numerous choirs for about 30 years and many soloists and instrumentalists for weddings, solo and ensemble contests, an all-region choir concert, many school and community choir musicals, and recently accompanied for six choirs at Derby High School in 2012-2013.
She started playing the clarinet in 6th grade and played all the way until college, made the All-State band and choir for two years in a row and was in the 1984 All-State Choir and the 1985 All-State HS band.

Rylie Klein
Flute, Piano and Composition Instructor
​Rylie began playing the flute in fifth grade in the Andover school district. In high school, she took piano lessons and began her study of music theory, performance, and composition. She received her Music Composition degree from Kansas State University and has been teaching at Music Scene since June 2021. Her other musical activities include playing in her church orchestra; writing music for band, flute, etc.; and coaching color guard at ACHS.
Becky Brown grew up in California where her parents and siblings all played piano and at least one other instrument. She began piano lessons when she was preschool age, and violin lessons when she was 10 years old, and continued with lessons throughout high school and college. In 1999 she moved to South Dakota where she studied ministry, music, and education. During that time when she placed a violin in a three-year old’s hands and saw her eyes light up, she discovered her love for teaching music and began taking students. She opened up a teaching studio in South Dakota, “Fall River Fiddle”, and taught private and group lessons to all ages. She has also played in a variety of settings such as churches, weddings, funerals, graduations, and other venues. In 2019, she and her husband moved to Wichita, Kansas, and she began teaching at Music Scene soon after.

Nathen Johnson
Guitar, Voice, Piano, and drum Teacher
Nathan is currently on the Worship Team at Christ Church in Wichita. Nate was a Worship Leader at Augusta United Methodist Church, Off Broadway musical, and was with New Song. He also has two years at Hutchinson Community college. 3 years at Friends University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Music.

Thor Bonner
Guitar, Bass, and Piano Instructor
Thor Bonner is a graduate of the WSU Jazz Performance program. He performs solo instrumental works as well as with jazz groups, colleges, and theaters in the surrounding area. Featured performances include Roxy’s Downtown, Crown Uptown Theatre, Forum Theatre, Mosley Street Melodrama, Century II, Wichita Grand Opera Orchestra, and Music Theatre of Wichita. He has also been a featured artist on KWCH, The Fox Morning Show, and as a guest performer at the Winfield Bluegrass Festival and International Oklahoma Bluegrass Festival.

Kevin Rutschman
Percussion Instructor
Kevin Rutschman has played the drums for 35 years. He studied music at Emporia State University in Emporia, Kansas, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Percussion, with a minor in Education. After graduating in 1997, Kevin relocated to Atlanta, Georgia and performed as a drum set player and percussionist both locally and touring, until returning to Kansas in 2015. He is known for his proficiency in all styles on drum set, as well as being a well-rounded percussionist and educator.

Ailed Garcilazo
Cello, Piano, Violin Teacher
Born in Guadalajara, Jal, Mexico. Ailed began her musical studies at the age of eleven. At the age of 18 she won the audition to be a member of the professional Chamber Orchestra “Higinio Ruvalcaba” conducted by Vladimir Milchtein and Konstantin Ziumbilov. In 2018 she began her undergraduate studies. She remained working in this orchestra for two years and played as a soloist in different parts of Mexico collaborating with professional musicians from all over the world.Together with the orchestra she went on tour to Costa Rica and had the opportunity to give a couple of master-classes.
Ailed started her Master in Music performance in 2021 and was awarded the first prize in the Wolff Ilse Bing Chamber Music Competition two years in a row (2021 and 2022) and second and third prize in 2023. In 2022 she was also a finalist for the concerto aria competition. Ailed has had the opportunity to play with the WSO and the Wichita Grand Opera orchestra during the years of 2021-2023. In May of 2023 Ailed obtained her Masters in music performance at Wichita State University. Besides performing Ailed has a great passion for teaching.

Steve Shook
Brass Instructor
Steve studied trombone under Dr. Irving Wagner at Oklahoma University and participated in various bands while in college. Steve has played trombone in his jazz band ‘Cool Blue’ since 1994. His philosophy is to make music fun and relaxing and believes students benefit the most by having many opportunities to perform.

Eric Shumaker
Guitar, Ukulele, Mandolin, and Beginning Banjo
Eric has been performing professionally with jazz groups since 2010. He also plays with bluegrass groups, classical guitar groups, and in pit orchestras around Wichita. Eric has also been teaching on guitar, ukulele, bass and other string instruments since 2010. He has his degree from Friends University in Guitar Performance and Jazz Studies.

Ryan Baker
Guitar, Piano, Bass
Instructor
Ryan has lived in Wichita for his entire life, and currently plays professional in many local restaurants and venues around town. Ryan won Guitar Center's Regional King of the Blues contest in 2011. He wants to spread his passion for Music to a younger generation, and is great at making learning fun.

Jayme and Taylor Liardi

Both started teaching in 2018. Jayme has played cello throughout middle and high school and has studied voice throughout his college career. Jayme also works at the front desk here at Music Scene. Taylor started music in elementary school at Cottonwood Elementary and has been playing piano seriously since 2015. Taylor has been taking advanced courses on piano since 2017. Together they have a small flower farm called “Grace Gardens” which is located just north of Andover.

Christy Ross
Piano Instructor
Christy Ross has been playing piano since she was 7. In middle school she started out playing the flute in band, but Then transferred to percussion where she found her true love of music. In high school she was in honor bands and continued with music into college where she participated in symphony, marching, and jazz bands. She was also part of the percussion ensemble at Emporia State university. Christy earned her bachelor's in elementary education but went on to teach music. She taught 9 years of music, 6 at St. Andrew and 3 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic schools.

Mikhail Yeremin
Trumpet Teacher
Mikhail started playing trumpet at the age of eleven and studied trumpet performance and education up until the age of twenty-one. During that time, he got to play with a symphony and several concert bands. At the age of 21 he decided to pursue a career outside of music, and currently works in the aerospace industry. However, he continues to play trumpet with various groups, such as Delano Wind Ensemble, Delano Chamber, Christian Performance Theater, and others. Mikhail is grateful and excited to be teaching trumpet at Music Scene.

Doug Ragon
Trombone, Piano and Composition Teacher
Douglas Ragon is a Kansas based composer, trombonist, and pianist, specializing in jazz. He studied with Dr. Wayne Goins, Dr. Paul Hunt, and Dr. Craig Weston at his alma mater Kansas State University. Currently, he is working towards his Master of Music in Composition at Wichita State University, studying with Dr. David MacDonald. As a composer, Ragon’s work spans a wide variety of instrumentations and styles, from solo piano to full big band. As a performer, he works frequently and can be seen performing every week, and he has shared the stage with such luminaries as Matt Wilson, Wayne Goins, Jim Pisano, and William Flynn.

Lane Turgeon
Bass, Cello, Guitar Teacher
Lane has been playing since age 11, and studied Bass Performance with Mark Foley at WSU. He was in the youth symphony growing up, and has a real passion for teaching music. Lane plays electric bass around town as a musician, and he is also one of the repair techs at Music Scene.

Tricia Brown
Piano Teacher
Tricia began playing the piano at age 7 and continued her studies while playing at church and accompanying the choir. In Jr High, and High School she played for her choir classes.
These experiences along with many others led to her into a career as an accompanist beginning in 1989 and continuing in the classroom until 2021 where she was able to retire from full time accompanist to full time piano teacher!
When Tricia isn't teaching or playing, she enjoys discovering new music, spending time with her husband and motorcycle family while riding their bikes.

Katelyn Sundquist
Piano and Violin Teacher
Katelyn began piano lessons when she was 6 years old and has loved playing from day one. She started violin lessons in Jr. High and then pursued every opportunity to grow in both instruments throughout High School. She received her bachelor of music degree from Moody Bible Institute in Chicago where she studied piano performance for five years and also played violin in their college orchestra. Since graduating in 2021 she has enjoyed teaching both piano and violin lessons, and she loves getting to know each of her students to build a relationship with them and to help them grow in their love for music. Katelyn also enjoys serving her church family by playing and singing often for Sunday worship. In her free time she loves discovering new music, going to coffee shops with friends, and reading good books.

Kyle Shook
Piano Teacher
Kyle started with the Trombone at the age of 10, and switched to piano at the age of 18. He has been teaching piano since 2012 now. He is currently in the band ‘Cool Blue’. Kyle also has started his own Jazz trio, and gigs around town. He also owns and runs Andover Tutoring Scene just a few doors down from Music Scene.

Alexus Morse
Violin and Piano Teacher
Alexus is a violinist, pianist, singer/songwriter, and producer. She has taken professional private violin lessons for about five years, made it into All-County Orchestra, and was part of the Winston-Salem Youth Symphony Orchestra for two years where she performed several times both as part of the orchestra and a soloist. At the age of 18, she completed two associate degrees, one of which being a music-focused arts degree, and will complete her bachelor’s in computer science this December. During her education, she has studied music theory, history, appreciation, composition, and much more! She has studied various learning styles to understand each age group’s educational needs to develop as a musician. As an oldest sibling, she is good with children and absolutely loves to teach! In addition to her primarily classical background, she also records her own piano chords, violin melodies, and vocals. She enjoys several different styles and genres of music, and produces/releases her own beats and singles.
